It’s always a must to dip your spoon into the mystery dessert, indulging ourselves to appease the curiosity.
With that thought in mind, I made the call to the CHI Spa at the Jingan Shangri La, took a deep breath and booked myself into 3.5 hour treatment.
What would such a long spa treatment entail? Remember if you don’t quite like yourself, then being stuck with your own mind for that time is not for you!
In their own words, “Combining the relaxing effects of a Nourishing Milk & Honey Wrap, a one-hour Aroma Vitality Massage and a Customised Facial, this is the perfect treatment to overcome jet lag. It refreshes and relieves stiffness, aches and pains.”
~A rather husky salt body scrub
~1st shower
~A silky Nourishing Milk & Honey Wrap
~2nd shower
~1 hour Aroma Vitality Massage
~Customised Facial
TIP: Always check out the Spa Monthly special add ons that are free that go along with your treatments.
After one and a half hours at the gym, the spa room and atmosphere was relevant to a business hotel, straight to the point but comfortably tasteful. I have to admit, it felt completely unnatural to lie in one position and shut my mind down and stop the cog works. The only way to thoroughly enjoy a long treatment, is to give in to your senses and let go of time. There is always a first time and I was completely undressed, while the therapist, strategically uncovered the necessary areas with a sheet. Once you relax and release your surroundings, you almost forget that there is someone in the room.
I am always weary of facials, as I never know what they put on your face, so this was my first, full proper facial. Finally in my thirties and I am looking after my skin more than ever, as I see the fine lines appear, though I have to say I still get mistaken to be in my early twenties. Thank you Asian heritage! Back to the facial, when I went back to my room, my face felt plump, hydrated and more importantly, clean and fresh without makeup. The little I know about facials is the application of the creams with the key fingers. I knew the therapist in Shangri La were well trained, using her ring and middle fingers to apply. Small details, but important to others.
There were so many other individual treatments, but lacking in time and days of patience, I covered the lot in one shot and the outcome was somewhat overwhelming.
If you are passing through, go get a treatment at the Jingan Shangri La. I can’t promise consistency, as I haven’t been there enough times, but if you are a gym bunny like my self, the cable TV and movies feels decadent to the non gym membership owner! The pool and Shower/ Steam /Suana services are wicked! Impressive facilities but not quite the inexpensive prices one may expect in this region of the world. Talking dollars, expect to pay S$400 ++ for the 3.5hours
Worth it? YES
Would I do it again? No, I’m too young to indulge in such fancy treats.
