After spending a week in Beijing, I touched down in the well known ghost town of empty housing Ordos (Erdos) , Inner Mongolia, China.
Story after story from various people bid me to keep away and not waste my time going to this leg of the race.
Ever the adventurer and eager to suss out new regions in new countries, nothing could stop me from checking this barren land .
As I left the newly built airport of about 2 years, I noticed farmers and people planting grass for miles around. Despite the dirt tracks by the landing strip, the city looked bran spanking new and unfinished. My car ride to the Howard Johnson Parkview Plaza Erdos passed by haunting silhouettes of either semi constructed or finished buildings/housing all left empty.
That aside, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday will host the next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Ordos, Inner Mongolia. I will attend the track walk this afternoon, but to let you know a little bit about the track, take a look at the picture! Till later!
“Opened in 2010, the Inner Mongolian Ordos International Circuit has fast earned a reputation as a technically challenging track. Granted an FIA Grade 2 licence, the
Porsche Carrera Cup Asia first raced at Ordos in 2011, and will make its third visit to the circuit – whose shape is inspired by horses found in region’s famous grasslands – this season.”
