What a brilliant first weekend racing at Sepang International Circuit at the Malaysian Super Series during the F1.

Heading to Sepang early on a Wednesday, I settled in and smoothened out the small details of scoping out my Support Paddock and Pits, so my team would be able to navigate the weekend with ease. With R Engineering, making their arrival on Friday, I stickered up the car livery, with my sponsors and team logos. That in itself was new and exciting for me, and I spent 2 hours deciding, peeling and placing! My family and friends  flew in from Singapore and UK to watch my first ever race, spending 2 days in the pits with me. It was a great moment in the beginning of my racing career.

My first practice since my testing at Sepang, went well, concentrating on the necessities of drumming in what my lines were and braking points. My Race 1 however, began in the wet. Every rookie teams nightmare, but it was a sigh of relief when I kept it on track, breaking early by 10-20m. I played it safe and made it back in P16. Race 2 was thankfully just after noon , and dry! A real test of my training. I started in P16, and made it home at P10 in category and P13 in class. I was unfortunately hit in Lap 6, T4 by Proton Factory James Veerapen whom I was battling it out with Malaysian’s Honda Factory Aaron Lim for about 3 laps, till i had to drop back . My front right rim was damaged and with a bent tie rod  I drove back on to the track realising my steering was offset.

I will concentrate only on what I can do better from now on, to make further progress. I had no expectations of the weekend other than to keep a clean race and keep it on the track and I hit my target.

Thank you to Havelock Racing, Yuey Tan, to everyone who have been so very supportive and to all my sponsors, where all of this would not have been possible.
