Visit Malaysia 2014, and that is exactly what I have been doing every other weekend!

Off the west coast of Malaysia, lies Port Dickson, and a well known beach and holiday resort area located in the state of Negeri Sembilan in Peninsular Malaysia. Instead of our usual choice of stay,  an impromptu overnight booking was made at the Avillion, an award-winning beach resort . Very much a family occasion, it most definitely does not leave out the romantic lovebirds, looking for a quick weekend runaway, before the weekday reality hits.82 (1 of 40)

Try your best to book a Premium Water Chalet, which will allow you to sleep above the waves lapping at the beach front, and face out towards the open seas. Take away the premium and perhaps just a little less privacy  (no early morning naked balcony stretches) but the same open air showers! For RM500 more, The Premium also gives you complimentary access to the Avi Spa clubroom (heaven on earth), above the spa, which has the best seat in the house, high tea and a drinks list (picture below says it all) . With that kind of indulgence for less than S$200 extra, I guarantee, you will thank me!photo2

MUST TRY: Avi Spa

I rarely doze off during massages, but when i chose my Malay Healing massage, it was firm with long pressing strokes that soothed my aching muscles, I unexpectedly had lost moments of recollection. Feeling like the Queen of the Malacca Straits, the April special gave me a choice of a scrub and I went with the 20 minute steaming. Equipped with a couples room, I went for a second accidental (not really) massage with the two free RM$50 vouchers. In total S$86/person. What you pay for is the after service, of a private open balcony, sipping on ginger tea and munching on the fruits. Relaxed is an understatement, but to be away from technology is the modern day aim.82 (20 of 40)

Lastly, plenty of activities for the kids and adults on the beach and on the calm seas, with only one little niggle, there was only one cafe dining restaurant for dinner. The ground floor dining was closed for maintenance, but they needed perhaps a fine dining restaurant. Other than that, I was more than happy to wonder the local food joints outside of the resort , where I paid RM2.50 for a Nasi Lemak/burger. Sold!

I can bet my last dollar, The Avillion, has not seen the last of me.

” Sits over 23 acres of coast scenery and faces the Straits of Malacca, offering 240 exquisitely designed rooms ranging from chalets to villas. Designed with the architecture of an Old World Malay fishing village in mind, the resort fuses traditional culture with contemporary luxuries, giving guests the opportunity to experience Malaysia’s rich heritage while living in comfort. The result is a perfect hideaway where you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and take a much needed breather”
